8 Days in St. Martin – Day 3 Pointe des Froussards

by MPI Traveler on October 29, 2011

Today we drove over to Anse Marcel and hiked to Pointe des Froussards (Coward’s Point).  This hike starts with a nice flat road that meanders down past the Radisson resort towards the ocean.  Eventually you will hit the end of the road and turn right onto the trail.  Here you start the uphill climb following a ravine full of boulders and tree roots.  It is a bit steep and precarious, but the views are wonderful.  Watch out for the hermit crabs though!  They are all over the trail and most of them are much harder to see than this one!  The hike goes over the mountains and ends up with a steep drop to the beach at Petites Cayes.  The beach is small and very private as the hike is the only way to get there.  You can then walk along the sea to Pointe Des Froussards.  If you keep going you will end up at the dump, which we decided to pass on!

For dinner we went to Le Cottage  in #Grand Case for dinner.  We shared starters of escargot (which was wonderfully served with garlic and basil.

Derek had a very delightful sampler of duck,: Preserve duck breast with potato and truffle, foie gras, roast of breast, sautéed foie gras with apples and balsamic vinegar served with sautéed spinach with Parmesan cheese.  That was quite amazing.

I had the Entrecôte de belle taille (Ribeye) served with butter Md’H and home made French fries.  Very nice. We opted for the Gourmand Cafe for desert, which consisted of an espresso served with five small desert items.  This has to have been one of the best desert options I have ever been offered!  A brandy on the house rounded out a perfect meal.  If you come to St. Martin, you must eat here!
