Derek and I visited the new tasting room yesterday on their Grand Opening Weekend. What a beautiful setting along the majestic Sonoma Coast in the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA. While it is a bit removed from the bustle of the heart of the Sonoma Wine Country, there are several vineyards in the area and the drive is one of the most beautiful in the country.
The building is nestled among tall Redwood forests and golden meadows at the top of a hill along the coast. My favorite part is the unique railing along the balcony and on the front gates. It is a beautiful aged cast iron railing with grape vines and clusters of grapes.
The Tasting Room offers Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinotage, all made from grapes grown exclusively on the Fort Ross Vineyard Estate. If you are in (or visiting) Sonoma County you must go here!
Lester and Linda (the proprietors) have done a great job here and Damian was an excellent host. Thanks for a great visit!
Make an even more fun day out this journey by visiting one of the many State and Regional parks in the area. We took Zephyr, our Airedale Terrier, for a short hike at Stillwater Cove Regional Park You can take your dog, but they do have to be on a leash.
Have lunch at the Timber Cove Inn – or better yet, plan an overnight adventure and stay there! (Don’t take the dogs here though.)
And there are other wineries in the area, but this is the best by far!
