Hiking, Redwoods, Loving the Bay Area

by MPI Traveler on December 29, 2012

Last weekend we packed up our dog Zephyr and headed to Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park near Santa Cruz, California.  We took the scenic route out of San Francisco heading down 280 to 92 (freeways) and then jumped onto State Highway 35 – one of the most beautiful drives in the Bay Area which heads South along the top of the Coastal Ridge Mountains and through the Santa Cruz Mountains.

You can see some amazing vistas as you switch between bay views, ocean views and dense redwood forests.  This drive always makes me realize just how much I love living here.

We stopped at Henry Cowell park and took Zephyr for a nice hike along one of the dog friendly trails. It was kind of rainy, but that just made the hike even more perfect. If you are ever in the area, check this park out.

And if you have a dog, stay at the Hilton in Scott’s Valley, they allow dogs and have a nice set up – ask to be on the 4th floor, which is actually on the ground level, up the hill…near the doggy outside area.
