Fourth of July in Fredericksburg

by MPI Traveler on June 26, 2013

Planning a getaway for the Fourth of July…?  We recommend that you head to Fredericksburg for a good old fashioned Fourth where there is literally something for each member of the family.

The fun starts at 8:00 a.m.  on the Fourth with a children’s costume parade followed by a concert by Sentimental Journey Orchestra in the Marketplatz.

Then world-class teams will compete in a chili cookoff at Becker Vineyards.  For information call:   (830) 644-2681

The big fireworks show at Lady Bird Park begins with a concert by the Air Force Band of the West Combo  around 7:30 PM followed by fireworks at dark (approx. 9:30 PM).  Bring your chairs, drinks and eats.

The Fourth of July weekend continues on July 6th with horse racing at the Fredericksburg fairgrounds.  Come see the quarter horses run!

And the finale of the weekend on July 6-7  is courtesy of the Museum of the Pacific War where history comes to life with a World War II battle re-enactment including uniformed actors, guns, tanks and a flamethrower!  Three performances on Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 am, 1 pm and 3:30 pm.  At the Pacific Combat Zone of the National Museum of the Pacific War.   For ticket information:  www.pacificwarmuseum.com.
