La Belle Epoque

La Belle Epoque daytimeA nice place in Marigot, St. Martin for pizza and casual dining is La Belle Epoque, on the waterfront of the Marina Royale.  Very comfy, casual and local.  We usually get pizzas but tonight we had the Menu Creole which offers a choice of Cod Fish Accras or Stuffed Crab for starters and Mahi Mahi Pave with Créole Sauce or Chicken Colombo for the main and a dessert of your choice.  Not bad for 22 €!  We had one of each of the choices so we could share bites, which makes dining out kind of fun.  We enjoyed dinner with a bottle of Aegerter Jean-Luc Macon Reserve which was quite nice.

The owner was extremely pleasant and helpful as was our server.  No rush, very French service, with prompt attention when needed.  We went on Thursday night during off season and there were just enough tables to make it interesting without being crowded.

They were gracious enough to endure my attempt at French and only spoke English if it was necessary!  They do speak English quite well, so don’t be concerned if you can’t speak French.  It was an enjoyable evening which ended a bit too soon for me.
